CRITICAL THINKING is an essential skill for successful AI implementation
One of the most important skills needed in the use of AI is critical thinking. Keep in mind that AI is not human. It has no feelings or emotions. It does not know right from wrong, correct from incorrect, moral from immoral solutions. It has no emotional intelligence. This is where we humans come into play.
The Human Factor Needed in Your AI Solutions
Critical thinking is the practice of processing information in order to make a decision, come to a conclusion or solve a problem. Think of critical thinking as a machine that allows you to put information in and then processes the information and spits out a conclusion. This conclusion could take the form of a solution to a problem or an important decision that must be made.

Critical thinking is a high-level skill that requires more than just thinking about the information you already know. It is an important skill when using AI because it helps humans solve problems and make difficult decisions. For example, an employee could use her critical thinking skills to help a customer decide on a product that meets his specific needs. The employee would collect information about the needs of the customer, compare that information with the information she knows about the products she is selling and make a decision about what to recommend to the customer. If she uses her information well, she will have a happy customer.
You think and make decisions all the time. In fact, this very moment you might be thinking to yourself, “I make decisions every day. I already know how to think critically.” This is sort of true because your mind is always working, thinking about what’s happening around you, what you’re doing or what something someone is saying to you. However, not all thinking is critical thinking.
Critical thinking should always be used when developing and testing your AI solutions.
Have you ever heard someone tell you to use your critical thinking skills? As the name suggests, critical thinking requires skill or a learned ability to do something. So how do you develop or learn critical thinking skills?

Conover’s Critical Thinking Skills program breaks critical thinking into the following six skill areas:
- Gathering Information
- Analyzing Information
- Applying Information
- Forming a Hypothesis
- Problem Solving
- Decision Making
Use Conover’s Critical Thinking process in your AI training system
Our Critical Thinking program is a self-directed software system that is available anytime, anyplace and on any device, 24/7. The system includes a research-based pre-assessment linked to a skill building system followed by a post-assessment to document skill gain, and its learning management system handles all the setting up, administering and tracking of user results for any number of participants. The program also comes with an instructor-led curriculum for group instruction to supplement our software.
