Conover Mobile Technology Grant

Thank you for your interested in our Mobile Technology Grant

At this time, we are no longer accepting applications for our technology grant. Our goal was to promote the use of mobile technology and our apps to improve an individual’s freedom and independence. We have done that for over 45 individuals since we started that mission. We do not have the staff to handle the inbound calls. Please do not call us asking when we will reopen the applications. All information will be posted here as we update it. You can check back later to see when this page updates. We appreciate your time and for making our grant initiative so successful so far!

I was very lucky to be able to obtain the ipod touch and have used it with a small group of students I take into the community. We have used it to make grocery lists and to make a list of places we needed to go. We have used it to order in a restaurant and to give us directions to find a location. This technology has made the students eager and excited to take part in learning in the community.

For my son Thomas, who has Autism, having an iPad has been life changing. Thomas was immediately interested in the Functional Skills System videos so that is where we started. The videos that highlight money are favorites and elicit spontaneous speech when he is watching them. We also set up his daily schedule and maintain his calendar on the iPad, which eliminated the binder we were using.

We have 9 children living in our home, of which 5 have disabilities. We have seen improved fine motor skills, spatial awareness, memory and visual processing as a result of this technology. We love the Functional Skills System videos. Our child with autism watches these videos over and over, and applies the information in her everyday activities. What a blessing! Thank You Conover!
