I hope everyone is having a great start to the school year. This time of year can be especially stressful for students, parents, teachers, and administrators, but hopefully almost two months into it that stress is beginning to ease as you settle into your routine.
Here at The Conover Company, we try to ease the stress of those in need with our Mobile Technology Grant Program. Many of you have probably heard about the grant program through different sites and blogs that link to our website and the dialogue taking place on our social networks. But for those who don’t know, the purpose of the grant program is to promote the use of mobile technology and our programs to improve an individual’s freedom and independence. Winners of our Mobile Technology Grant receive either an iPod Touch or an iPad, preloaded with our Functional Skills System videos.
31 Reached, and Counting
The Conover Company has given away 31 grants to date and the applications continue to flow in from all over the country. I had the privilege of contacting our most recent winner, Sarah, who was more than ecstatic to find out she had won. She has four children and three of them have a disability. Sarah will work with her kids on the iPad and hopefully it will make a difference in their lives for the better.
Functional Skills for Independent Living
Those of us not in this position tend to take little things for granted in our everyday lives. The ability to go to the store, to read signs and communicate are crucial skills to living an independent life, yet people with disabilities may not have developed these skills on their own. Humans by nature do not like switching from the status quo because it is uncomfortable and there is a sense of uncertainty. Our hope, our dream at The Conover Company is that this grant program, as well as our software programs, apps and hardware will change the lives of those in need.
If there is one common thread running through everyone here at The Conover Company it is our passion to make a difference. We have been committed to that for over 30 years and we will continue that same commitment for years to come. Thank you to everyone who supports us and spreads the word.
