The special education law – IDEIA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act) – now requires, under transition services Section 614 – Individualized Education Plan, individualized education programs must now include:

(aa) appropriate measurable post-secondary goals based upon age-appropriate transition assessments related to training, education, employment, and, where appropriate, independent living skills

(bb) the transition services (including course of study) needed to assist the child in reaching those goals.

Consider using all or part of our MECA System to help meet the mandates of the new law.

Learning Assessment Programs - Provide academic/basic skills assessments related to the workplace and correlates to all state standards under No Child Left Behind

The Career Planner - Involves the learner in creating their own transition plan

Personal Responsibility - Assesses and then teaches core self-determination skills related to academic and post-secondary goal setting and achievement.

The Success Profiler - Provides assessment and skill intervention strategies for social/emotional intelligence–the new softskills for today’s workplace

Functional Skills System - Assesses and then teaches functional life, social, literacy and work skills
